Any order or combination? I assume not.

I was wondering the same thing. Should all the squats be completed before the muscle-ups (in my case pull-ups and dips)?

Comment #2 - Posted by: Joseph at May 15, 2004 4:22 AM

Mornin' Gents!

Yeah, do all the squats then the muscle-ups, all for time.

Did this one out of order.Had to sub ring dips and pull-ups for the muscle-ups.Did 20 mini-rounds of 10 squats, 5 pull-ups, 5 dips.
Afterwards, Mark and I both did 3 2-minute rounds on the focus mitts.Upper body is trashed!

Getting closer to muscle-ups...but still not quite there. Subbed the 5/5.

11:09 Squats and MUs - So nice outside that I went outside to play in the barn. The manure spreader is still parked close to the rings, but I was itching to see if I could do consecutive MUs.

Squats had no breaks. No tabata speed there, just a constant, "normal" speed with a momentary lock at the top.

Started the MUs with three singles. They felt great, so I went for consecutives...I made a new PR of seven! I lost my false grip on number eight, so I stopped that round rather than chance an injury. Followed that with sets of 4,3 and 3 consecutives.

Finished the WOD with strict dead hang pullups and ring dips, alternating between reps 5 of each until completing 50 for both. 8:43.

Completed squats straight through in 7:23. Substitute 5 pullups + 5 ring dips per mu. No mu's in me today, right elbow sore (tendonitis?). Icing it down as I type this.

I,m out of town this weekend so the horizontal pull up bar stayed @ home.: therefore 200 squats & 200 DB shouldre presses with the only wts available two 10 lb DB all untimed the air is thinner up here in tme Blue Rridge mts therefore less ambient o2 but also less resistance to movement

All those pull-ups and dips really slowed me down. I finished the squats in about 6 minutes.

25 Minutes - sets of (5) PU & Dips instead of MU

Comment #11 - Posted by: Steve M at May 15, 2004 3:12 PM

Between 11 & 12 minutes. Stoked. Still using the cell phone as a timer. I want to die now.

Messed me up.
Thanks.

Workout of the Day:

Demolish 24'x16' wooden deck, including railing, spindles, uprights, etc. All wooden parts are 2 x 4 or better (some 4 x 4, a few ungodly uprights are 6 x 6). Heavy crowbar work, lots of fun sledgehammer work (knocking off the side boards). Unbelievable DL work to get the uprights out of the ground after digging down and wiggling them loose (there's a 75 - 100 lb ball of concrete at the bottom of each upright). Cut all lumber to maximum 4' dimension or the dump won't take it (power tools allowed). Carry all pieces of wood about 30 yards to dumpster (wheelbarrow collapsed in first hour).

85 in the shade, about 105 in the sun. I've never been so thrashed in my life.

Okay Dave I'll play.
Jeff's WOD
Carry seven 130 pound heavy bags 50 yards to flat bed trailer. Carry 1700 pounds of weights same distance. Move one squat rack and three dumbell racks to trailer. Drive two miles, consider this the rest period. Unload all weights, bags, and racks and place in new location.
Coach, did hang 5 new ropes of varying thickness today. Rings will be up next week. Cargo net and burma bridge supposed to arrive by Friday.

Jeff: wooh! Yours may trump mine . . . I could stop for lunch. Where's the new gym? It sounds like a blast.

Ramona, just outside of San Diego. Stop in if you are ever down this way.

Just got my rings. I was able to do muscle ups on the pull up bar but not on the rings. Did the PUs and Ring Dips. Ring Dips are a whole other story I discovered. Concentrated on going as low as possible on the dips and as high as possible on the PUs. Very hard and took forever.

Jeff,
COngrats brother. I remember you talking about the move coming up at the seminar. Hope the new place is a smashing success for you!

Broke up the squats into blocks of 50 with about 20-30 seconds rest between blocks. Did 5 bar pull-ups and 5 ring dips per muscle up (to lazy to adjust rings between the two exercises). Started out alternating sets of 10, dropped down to sets of 5 after round 3. Time was 23:22.

Comment #19 - Posted by: Ryan Atkins at May 16, 2004 11:24 AM

Only had a pullup bar available so I did an older workout that involved the same muscle groups:
20 rounds for time of

5 pullups
10 pushups
15 squats

Time: 14:38

Comment #20 - Posted by: Cyrus at May 16, 2004 2:59 PM

I'll be lucky if I can walk tomorrow! took me 20 minutes to complete the 200 squats, broke them up into sets of 20 until the 40 which I broke into 2 15's and a 10. I did not complete the 100 PU's and Dips to complete 20 MU's. I hated this WOD (not really though, just kicked my ass)

Comment #21 - Posted by: Will at May 17, 2004 10:59 AM

Ugh.

17:48, but didn't finish.

Squats about 9:30 - 100/35/20/25/20.
Managed 5x PU/bar dips and then my shoulder told me not to do any more dips, and I listened...

just slow, using hanging 2" pvc for the rings. shoulder started to hurt so I switched to 15 parallete bar PU's in sets of 15 to replace the dips for the last couple of sets. deep squats went in 6-7 minutes.

Comment #23 - Posted by: Jim H at May 19, 2004 7:52 AM

24:30, doing 5 pullups and 5 ring dips to replace one muscle up.

Did not time

Comment #25 - Posted by: jeff reiser at May 21, 2004 11:41 AM

Did all 200 squats. Did them in sets of 20 with about 10-20 seconds of rest between sets. Got to 17 on the muscle-ups and just could not do anymore. They were not consecutive, doubles and singles mostly with about a minute between. Took me 25:00.
