What is wide jumping? I have a bad feeling I might be guilty of this. Thanks.

I think he's talking about the jump in the process of doing a clean.

Kevin's got it. A little bit back and wider is O.K. Shark was jumping out about 8-10" each leg.

Two 45 pound rubber plates placed just outside his feet in the starting stance put an instant end to the ugly habit.

The REAL deal.

Good job, Shark.

Sometimes a simple chalk mark on the platform works to fix this problem too.

Many beginning lifters, in order to get under a clean, go wider instead of deeper in their squat-under. This is a very bad habit and quite common, too.
