Looks like Pirates/CrossFitters of the Caribean.

Hi,

Very cool and intriguing!! It reminds me of a WW2 film about the OSS and there were agents doing their fitness training on an all in one obstacle course called a trainasium.

WOW! This picture has sealed my fate: I am going to have to make a pilgrimage to the "Holy Gym" some time in my life. I am in Toronto, so it is very far, but this looks too good to pass up.

Great Picture! Where is that gym?

Comment #4 - Posted by: Eagle_Eye at January 24, 2004 8:21 PM

for the thruster: 1 or 2 35lb dumbbells?

Comment #5 - Posted by: david at January 25, 2004 7:05 PM

One 35 pound dumbbell in each hand.

Comment #6 - Posted by: Coach at January 26, 2004 4:04 AM

Three thrusters short of 4 rounds. Had to use the Human gerbil wheel otherwise known as the treadmill for the runs with the ramp up issues but my real limiting factor was the thruster as I had to break the sets once or twice.

102 fever :(

Comment #8 - Posted by: Dustin DePanicis at January 26, 2004 5:49 AM

Nine thrusters short of 4 rounds. But I did finish up all 21 thrusters with 70# despite Pukie demanding my attention. He started his visit during round three and the struggle was on to finish the WOD. A mind over body game I barely won.

Although the running was destroying my time and teaching me humility, the thrusters were very strong and all were inches below parallel. I had to break each set a couple times to catch my breath, but the technique and strength were in great shape this morning.

Comment #9 - Posted by: kelly at January 26, 2004 6:09 AM

I messed up. I ran 800 meters in my rounds instead of 400 meters. At least I picked up the right dumbells for the thrusters, 35#.
2 rounds completed and 100 meters into my 3rd round at 20 minutes.

Comment #10 - Posted by: Eagle_Eye at January 26, 2004 7:18 AM

I was looking forward to thrusters, but they'll have to wait for another day. Colorado got dumped on, so I spent my workout time shovelling snow!
So, I'm posting 45 min. of shovelling instead! Great workout for the grips, legs and low back!

Brawling tonight!

Used 45# dbs for the thrusters. Broken up into sets after round 1. Runs on treadmill w/ 3 degree incline. Everything was hard today. Took lots of breaks. I think the ring push-ups from last night seriously affected my thrusters this morning. Completed 4.5 rounds.

Comment #12 - Posted by: Ryan at January 26, 2004 8:28 AM

2 rounds with 30lb dumbells and 2 rounds with 20lbs dumbells. Lowered the weight because i had to break up the 2nd set with the 30's.My legs are week. Hopefully soon they will be tree trunks. Yet again another great workout. Some of you on this site are amazing. I'm humbled

Comment #13 - Posted by: Todd at January 26, 2004 8:32 AM

Got 4.5 rounds, ran on treadmill @ 9:03 mile pace. The thrusters were broken up to 11,5,5 w/35#. This was a tough workout for me, it killed my wind and shoulders. I have to say I love crossfit, this is only my 9th day and I am already feeling the difference. I am now a crossfit junkie and trying to get all my jail buddies (I'm a corrections officer) hooked.

Comment #14 - Posted by: Treetrunks at January 26, 2004 11:49 AM

3.5 rounds + 9 more thrusters.

Comment #15 - Posted by: Daniel at January 26, 2004 11:52 AM

I did 4 rounds with 20# in just over 20 minutes. Mixed up the order though, I did thrusters then running. Great workout though, so much fun.

Comment #16 - Posted by: ALeX at January 26, 2004 12:18 PM

4 rounds

2 minutes on eliptical machine in place of 400.

Comment #17 - Posted by: Josh C at January 26, 2004 3:01 PM

Ice and snow prevented me from getting to weights. Instead I devised a version of Chelsea that I call Becky in honor of my fiancee.

5 pullups
10 pushups
15 situps
20 squats

As many sets as possible in 20 minutes. I did 10.

Comment #18 - Posted by: barker at January 26, 2004 3:03 PM

I checked out the previous posts and thought
I could finish 4 rounds no problem. Boy was
I mistaken.

3 rounds w/ 30# db's with 5 seconds to spare.
I ran an extra 400 on the treadmill for fun
after the 20 min was up:)

Comment #19 - Posted by: Patrick W at January 26, 2004 3:04 PM

As always, Kelly and Ed, I was way behind you.... I could only do 3.5 rounds with...19 thrusters short of 4 rounds...You guys blew me away.

Comment #20 - Posted by: Tony at January 26, 2004 4:46 PM

2 mile run
1 hour rest
3 rounds at 25#

Comment #21 - Posted by: trey at January 26, 2004 4:54 PM

on a low note - only did 10 min of thrusters without the run due to snow outside (dinner kept wanting to come back and haunt me since i didn't allow enough time to digest)

however on a high note - i completed a crossfit challenge

1/2 bodyweight for 21 consecutive reps of thrusters

bw = 185# and used barbell with total load of 95# for 21 thrusters without even a pause

that pretty much destroyed me and only managed 2 more sets with 10 reps each - after that i did pushups with feet elevated on the paralletes

hopefully i can manage the full 20 minutes next time

Comment #22 - Posted by: alex at January 26, 2004 6:44 PM

I did yesterday's workout today (logged in under yesterday), since it's snowing pretty hard. Went skiing for 5 hours.

I can still feel the deadlifts from Thursday. That was a good workout.

Comment #23 - Posted by: MikeY at January 26, 2004 7:40 PM

3.5 rounds w/25# dumbells

Comment #24 - Posted by: Joshua at January 26, 2004 7:49 PM

4 rounds of pure hell.

Comment #25 - Posted by: chad stclair at January 26, 2004 8:27 PM

4 rounds. wasn't feeling it as much as i would like to have in the shoulders so i broke the last set of thrusters up to 13 thrusters/13 presses/ 10 thrusters.

Comment #26 - Posted by: jerme at January 26, 2004 9:47 PM

3.5 rounds + 14 thrusters

Comment #27 - Posted by: Laurion at January 27, 2004 1:58 AM

2 rounds in 9 minutes(had to leave early for work)

Substituted jump rope for the run. First early morning (5:30 am) workout in a while. Even the warm-up felt like a workout for my creaky body.

Comment #28 - Posted by: Jon Pappas at January 27, 2004 8:45 AM

4 complete rounds with a few seconds to spare

25# dumbells

Comment #29 - Posted by: Steve D. at January 27, 2004 11:40 AM

Did a deadlift workout 3/2/2/1/1/1 and then tackled today's WOD. Finished 4/5 rounds in 20 minutes. Smoker!

Comment #30 - Posted by: Mike Wallace at January 27, 2004 12:05 PM

4 rounds. Draggin today. Just phoned this one in. Was thinking about doing the thrusters with 1 70# dumbell (like 11 reps on each side) as a goofey twist but just didn't have the motivation to try it out.

Comment #31 - Posted by: Chris at January 27, 2004 2:14 PM

30# dumbells on Thrusters (below parallel) Don't like running in below freezing temps so I substituted 2min 30sec jump rope (with sporadic consistency)
4 rounds (finished last thruster right at the bell)

Comment #32 - Posted by: doug at January 27, 2004 5:06 PM

Four rounds plus an extra 400m.

Pushed the run (for me): set the treadmill at 9:00 pace at 3% slope, just left it running and got on/off. No slacking on the pace! 3 rounds had me in bad shape, took a minute rest, finished out.

10# DB for the thrusters - arguably too light. Move up next time.

"Promote a neuroendocrine response" ... this is CF code for "find Pukie", right?

I've been AWOL for about a month travelling and working.
Round 1)
Today's WOD was 3 rounds. Thought I would get 4, but legs are still wiped from the OH squats done two days ago.

Rest 10 minutes

Round 2)
Couldn't do yesterday's workout yesterday, so did it today, too. Ouch. 4 rounds of 20 each judo belt assisted pull-ups & 20 push-ups.

I do not recommend doing 2 WODs back to back (no brainer?). It does not feel good, and not in a good way, either.

Comment #34 - Posted by: Joseph at January 28, 2004 2:37 AM

3 rounds + 250 meters. But I finished that last 150 meters because, as y'all know, I *LOVE* to run!

Been doing Crossfit for about 9 months now, on and off a couple days a week along with surfing, running, BJJ. I'm always off but ready to start posting times, though I'm always behind a little. I got 5 full sets and about 20 steps from a complete 6th 400. Almost puked, technically dry heaved. Posted and puked, two firsts.
