110x1 - I did it! I finally cleaned my bodyweight!

I changed the WOD a little using squat cleans rather than power cleans. All reps were parallel or below.

Please define 'power clean'. It doesn't appear in the exercise list.

Thanks

a power clean is like a hang clean, but you start with the weights on the floor. the first move is to pull the weights up to the hang position, then continue just like the hang clean.

2x155
2x175
1x185
1x205
1x215 PR
1x220 PR
form got a little sloppy on last two - just before i catch the bar my stance gets wider to help me get under it instead of bending my knees more

also - after a short rest did a workout i found in the archives

run 200m deadlift 225x10
run 400m deadlift 255x5
run 600m deadlift 275x3
run 800m deadlift 300x1

this was a great workout - now i am going to go collapse on my living room floor and watch some football

Kelly - congratulations on the bodyweight lift. I'll have to try this again in a month to see if I can get mine.

Alex, Kevin - Good job with the PRs, gentlemen.

Power Cleans:
145 x 3
150 x 3
155 x 2
165 x 1
165 x 1
165 x 1

Angie:
Pullups x 7, 3+7negitives, 3+7neg, 2+8neg, 2+8neg, 2+8neg, 2=3neg, 1+4neg, 5 negitive only, 5 neg only, (changed to parallel grip from underhand) 5 neg only, 5 neg only, 5 neg only, 5 neg only, 3 neg only = 100 total
Pushups x 25, 20, 15, 10, 15, 15 = 100 total
Situps x 50, 20, 20, 10 = 100 total
Squats (w/ 45lb Olympic bar) x 50, 30, 20

total time of Angie = 55:10

The time is a long way from the 20 minutes of continuous work described in the Crossfit Journal of Sept 2000. Very tough, especially the pullups they kill me, but I've got something to work toward.

195 X 1 PR! bwt!

Great work everyone.

Power Cleans:
135 x 3
135 x 3
155 x 2
155 x 2
185 x 1
205 x 1
225 x 1(missed)
215 x 1

Bodyweight 215. Kelly, you've got me beat. I was doing powercleans before I found crossfit, but I'm not coordinated yet to do a squat clean with that weight. I haven't got a good front squat position down. I'm just pulling it really high and dropping slightly under it. Good WOD.

Comment #11 - Posted by: Mike Wallace at January 4, 2004 7:09 PM

I did powercleans on friday, and since we're in the discussion, I PR'd mine too. 160(bodyweight is 158) Good job guys. I just got back from a snowboard trip, and Im looking forward to chelsea.

Cheers

Went for 6 mile run at 7:15 pace, then got in car and drove home from beach 10 hours. Ready for tomorrow's workout.

Comment #13 - Posted by: MikeY at January 4, 2004 7:42 PM

First time I've done power cleans, difficult to get the coordination down

135 x 3
185 x 2
185 x 2
195 x 1 (bwt 198, 13# overweight after broken back 6 months ago w/4 month lay off)
205 x 1 (miss)
205 x 1 (miss)
205 x 1 (miss)

I think I was scared to "go for it" on my last two.

Tabata sprints on a lifecycle. 4 minute warm up, 20 second sprint 10 second rest x 8 @ level 10, 4 minute cool down.

Bench
265 1RM + 4 partial reps at top
245 x 1 + 4 partial reps at top
185 x 6
135 x 8 (to failure)

Got this one a day late due to gym being closed this weekend for holidays. Skipped Chelsea today as I had a few unscheduled run-ins with her when the gym was closed for the holidays.

Warmed up with light sets of pullups, pushups and thrusters with 45# bar. I like the way thrusters stretch me out and get the blood going.

Power cleans went like this:
95x5, 105x5, 115x3, 125x3, 135x3, 145x1, 155xmiss, 145x1.

105 x 2
115 x 1
120 x miss, miss
115 x 1
117.5 x miss, 1
120 x 1
122.5 x miss, 1

bwt 110; unlike the monster Kelly I didn't do full squat cleans. Just plain ol' power cleans.

Rowed 1k in 4:44

Hi everyone. Back from a brief hiatus for the holidays. This was a nice workout to get back on the program.
I haven't cleaned anything in about month, but I still achieved my old PR. I guess being "well rested" helps in this one. Hoever, I am sure I will be sucking wind on the first workout that involves 400M repeats

135x3
155x2
165x2
175x1
185x1
195x1

Bwt 185

Went from 95 up to 185 on last (successful) single (new PR). Missed at 195 (too big a step up, I guess).

Also snatched 155 (my bwt, and an (old) PR). Missed at 165.

DL'd 365.

I broke out the ADIDAS lifting shoes for this one. I wanted to C&J but,my tech was sloppy and when I missed at 265 I called it quits on the jerks.

That is either a PR, or tied for a PR. Missed 260. My form is not great, so I have almost no dip; I just pull it straight up.
