Post time to comments.

Blake Glassman, age 14. Over the next five years Blake will continue to do CrossFit, grow a foot, pick up 75 pounds and thereafter be accused of having great genetics.

Good work Blake! With "good genetics" and a couple of great coaches how can you miss?
I needed to do my workout early today. So, I pulled up 030726 and did a little swinging this morning.
9:07 with the 24kg kettlebell.
I may have to try the 5k later today. We haven't done that one in several weeks.
Have a good day all.
I might add that Blake is one of the best behaved, most respectful 14 year olds I have ever been around.
That is not an easy age. Coach, the work you do with Blake in that vein is far more important than the work you do here. I congratulate you on a job well done. Keep it up.
23:46! Wow! This is outstanding for me, one of the greatest non-runners of all time. I never thought I would ever be running this far, much less in times that are becoming more respectable. Crossfit works!
I think Blake will be the next Greg in a couple years...more inspiration for the rest of us! :)
Ran the 5k WOD a few weeks ago as a lark. 32:13, with lots of walking.
Today, 28:31, only one (brief) walk break. The improvement is due mostly to better fatigue management and pacing, and the effects of a few weeks of the Beginner workouts from the May '03 CF Journal.
Kelly...23:46! Wow is right! Breaking 25:00 is my next goal.
And props to Blake...I was watching some UFC late last night, and saw a submission (armbar) achieved by Josh Barnett that didn't look half as clean as Blake's. Watch out world!
I finished! My first 5k in 20+ years. Time = 31:05. A bit of walking involved, but never winded--just leg muscles refusing to pound farther. I feel like celebrating.
Only got to 3.1 miles -_-; Took me 24 minutes.
Felt good. Put on some Audioslave, the first 2 miles just blew by.
Well, my first 5K ever. There is a nice little hilly loop near my house and I did what was supposed to be 5K so it'll be my benchmark. It took me 23 minutes on the dot with no walking. There are also some parallel bars close by so I worked on some holds afterward because they sure do need work!
It is my second day with the crossfit program. Finished up the 5K in 23 minutes. I felt like I could have pushed myself sooner, but I have not ran distance in a while for time, so I chilled out. Looking forward to the future.
5k at home, in NJ, 19:54.
It's been faster, but then again, I was a starving endurance athlete with no meat on my bones.
I'm much more satisfied being able to do a sub 20 AND 15 pullups. (Could never have done the latter while a NCAA Div I runner.)
Amanda,
I would be overjoyed with that time! Yet another goal for me...
Rode the bike out to my favorite running loop and used the odometer to measure the course. What I had thought was about 5k was really only 4. So, I came to the sad realization that I'm 20% slower than I thought I was. Ran the true 5k in 26:47
Run 5k for time of : 26.20
Rested three times for thirty seconds.
22:32
little better than last time
Ran it in 19:43. Pretty disappointed, but ::17 faster than last time.
Tragically slow 37:56 on the treadmill. That thing MUST be slower than real life (TM) running. No walking, and the first 5k in 18 years.
