I don't have access to a rower and my elbows are in tough shape from yesterday's muscleups. I substituted kb swings for the rowing, and tabata squats for the snatches. Kb swings for 4 min (hope that is the rough time for a 1km row), 19 for the squats and another way too long 4 minutes for more swings. I was wobbling up the basement stairs.

Are any of these women single? :)

This WOD was TOUGH for me! Holy sh*t! 3:36, 4:14. I am not putting anything down for the Tabata snatches because I couldn't make it past 4 sets. I was so exhausted; I literally couldn't stand any longer. I did make it to 4 reps in 20 seconds. To compensate, I rested awhile, then went back and kept working on my technique.

This was the first time I have ever attempted a snatch. I studied the video carefully and then practiced with the bar. I felt reasonably confident, so I decided to load on a 25 on each side. I figured, 95# snatch, no problem! I damn near collapsed under the weight on my first attempt! I have a new found appreciation for Olympic weight lifters! I could manage a meager 70# snatch; and I know my form needed work. Even with that weight, I was completely exhausted after a few rounds.

After the snatch "ordeal", the last 1k on the Concept 2 was brutal. I purposely didn't go all out because I knew I was going to pass out if I did!

I have never snatched before and didn't have the time to work on the form today so I figured thrusters would be a good substitution.
Rowed the first 1K in 3:36.2.
Did tabata thrusters with 75 lbs, managing 10 on the first set and a minimum of 6 thereafter.
Rowed the second 1K in 3:42.7.

Rest day couldn't be coming at a better time...

3:32.8, 115 lbs. 3 reps (yikes!), 3:31.3

Really pushed on this one, especially the last 1000m row. I was angry about the snatches, so I "left it all on the field." Great workout, again.

Oh, man, did this suck . . .

Excuses, excuses: a) 5 out of last 6 days I had no workout b) gave blood 2 days ago c) rower seat needs lubricating d) my hair hurt . . .

first row: 3:43 very hard. Pukie lurking in the hallway.

snatch: I knew this wouldn't be good, so I used only 65 lbs. got 6 every set but one, that one was 5. Pukie is now in the room, edging closer.

second row: 3:53 Pukie was all over me. I had to lie down after this one.

I completely suck at snatches. I'll take a bullet and submit my crappy #s. 3:55/65lbs. X 3/3:59 Rowing is on a Waterrower, not CII so I'll kid myself that I'm WAY faster.

Row 1k: 3:26

Tabata Hang Power Snatch: 40kg (88lbs), minimum 4 reps per interval

Row 1k: 3:36

Very hard workout. My rower was sitting next to one of my gym's "vibration training" machines, and someone started to use it just as I finished the second row. I was already feeling nauseous and the vibration didn't help. Pukie was close!

I don't have a rower, so I decided to substitute 72 lb. Kettlebell Snatches. They didn't take as long as the rowing times I've seen, but I guarantee I was pushing max. heart rates. Times were about 1:30. For both sets I did 12 on each side, and then 12 swings. I was seeing white on the last six reps on the second set. I couldn't stand without support for about 30 seconds.

I only got to set 6 on the Tabata Snatches. I was doing Hang Snatches with just the bar and dropping all the way down into the receiving position, then just standing back up while lowering the bar. Set 6 I did 6 of those, then I got something stuck in my throat (that dry spot I'm sure everyone is familiar with--I've had a sore throat for 3-4 days as well, and that probably didn't help) and came really, really close to hurling, so I decided to hang it up. My gym is understanding, but if I start ACTUALLY puking, instead of just feeling like it, I think they're going to curtail my activities.
