Atomic CrossFit (TX) enters the CrossFit Affiliate Snapshot. Affiliate Owner: Grace Patenaude, Jim Kelly, John Bryant, and Scott Patenaude. Affiliate Since: June, 2008. Location: Sugar Land/Stafford, Texas. Square Footage: 9,500. Number of Members: 250. Number of Trainers: 7 Male/2 Female. Describe your gym culture in one word: Community. Most used piece of gear in your gym? Barbell. Advice you wish you had been given: Invest in janitorial and bookkeeping services from the start. What question you would love to ask other affiliate owners: What drives you the most as an affiliate owner? Workout or movement that elicits the most groans in your affiliate: Strength WODs. I have left more than 40 lbs of fat and several gallons of sweat on the floor at Atomic Crossfit. Thanks to Grace and the team, I have been able to realize several life goals. To name a few, I was able to join the Army National Guard at 33 years old(I couldn't pass the APFT or tape before ACF), run a marathon, and complete the ToughMudder. Tomorrow I turn 35, I feel better than I ever have and my goals are bigger than ever before. Thanks Grace and the coaches and trainers! What more can I ask for? The camaraderie is unbelievable! Today I witnessed a whole class (16 people) run the last 400m with a new CrossFitter struggling to keep going. He didn't quit. I said to my self, "That is why I do this..." The CF Community in Houston is strong and getting stronger Props to all the affiliates in this growing community! After 8 months of crossfit, I'm in better shape than I've ever been. The community is awesome, and the coaching is incredible, and the programming is fantastic!
