CrossFit Penrith (Jody Gall and Glenn Mitchell) steps into the CrossFit Affiliate Snapshot.

Affiliate Since: May 2009.

Location: Penrith, N.S.W Australia.

Square Ft: 2000.

Number of Members? 57, with about 10 once a week casual CrossFitters.

Is this your original location? No, we started in the park until we found a suitable box.

Number of Trainers? 3.

Is this your full-time job? What else do/did you do? Yes, this is full time for both of us. I was managing a globo gym & doing P.T previously & Jody played professional Rugby League.

Why CrossFit? CrossFit changes people's lives, it inspires, it motivates & our members are better for it. Nothing else compares.

Using 3 words or less, describe your affiliate culture: Team Collaboration.

Programming: Do you do your own or follow somewhere else? Mostly our own, but also go to a few of my favourite sites for inspiration (CrossFit Football, One World & Unlimited) to name a few.

Any special focus in clientele? No, we have athletes ranging from 16-78 in our team.

Average hours you work per week on/at your affiliate: 20 hours/week is made up of sessions & about 30 hrs is spent at the box doing 1on1 & on the business.

Have you ever advertised? We actually won some airtime on a local radio station, but nothing came of it.

In running this business, what really took you by surprise? Just how supportive the rest of the CrossFit community is.

Complete the sentence: CrossFitters are . . . all ages, shapes and sizes.

How has CrossFit changed your life? It's given me the greatest avenue to help others. Previously I worked in Globo land & was starting to think is this it? Then I met CrossFit & now I know what Peter Parker felt like when he discovered he had super powers.

Any advice for new affiliate owners? Don't be afraid to start with the bare essentials. Whilst you may aspire to have top of the line equipment & a fully stocked facility, you don't need it all to start. The right culture is the trick. Also don't get lazy with coaching, keep the standards black & white, & keep them high. Educate your athletes & like Coach Glassman says "Make stars of your athletes" put them on your web page, anywhere you can. Don't make this about you.

Puke bucket in your gym? Or no puke bucket? Yes, just recently one of our athletes placed at a local affiliate meet & the trophy was a bucket with Pukie on it & it was filled with some goodies. He donated the goodies (chalk & protein) & the bucket. We now keep it under our mural of Pukie.

I'm a very proud member of the CF Penrith team - one of the many whose life has been changed by Glenn, Jody and the whole CF Penrith family. Glenn & Jody are so right when they say that "nothing else compares" - CrossFit it simply the most enjoyable and most effective form of exercise I've ever done, and CrossFit Penrith is simply the best place I've ever exercised. I love the culture that we have at our box - I always feel welcomed, supported and part of the team. I am so inspired by my fellow athletes, and I'm not embarrassed to say I am very proud of my own CrossFit achievements - none of which would be possible without the support of the trainers and athletes around me. You know, hardly a day goes by without one of us writing "I love CrossFit" or "I love CFP" or "I'm addicted to CrossFit" on our comments blog and Facebook pages! I think there's a message in that...

"..now I know what Peter Parker felt like when he discovered he had super powers."

I agree with Jo. I am also a member at CFP.
I have been there since day one and the changes I have seen, not only the box go through, but the changes Glenn and Jody have also under gone is nothing short of amazing.

They have improved their own lives and both would agree they are living the dream daily.

They have improved that gym beyond anything i first imagined. The box is the epitome of community collaboration. So much of that gym was put togethere BY the PEOPLE and FOR the people!

When you have a suggestion, they, unlike other gyms actually take it on board and discuss it over a good meal and group board meeting with the trainers! I can't tell you about to many places i know that do this!!

Thank you to Glenn and Jody and all my friends at CFP for making the last Year and a bit so enjoyable and here's to the next few years! :)

The way in which i was introduced to crossfit was i was lucky enough to have Glenn as my PT and when he and Jody decided to open up crossfit Penrith ,i thought i would go across and give it a go.The aspects of crossfit that really stood out for me in comparsion to other forms of fitness gyms that i have been involved in, is crossfit is a very close net community where everyone gives each other support and words of encouragement when doing a crossfit workout. The amazing results people get from these workouts of the day ,surpasses any other forms of fitness that is available. It really has been an enjoyable pass 12 months at crossfit Penrith and its a full credit to both Glenn and Jody for all the hard work they have done.

I agree with Jo, Shane and Courts. CFP has changed the lives of many, myself included. Not so long ago, I quit my job so I could play CrossFit whenever I want, thanks to Glenn and Jody for allowing me this indulgence and always making me feel welcome. People say follow your dreams and good things come, I can say this is true in my case, I'm now being coached by Glenn and Jody to be a Coach, life really is great, for me it's about leading a healthy, happy and great life.

As with Shane I was there from the beginning and WOW the changes in the past 12 months have been nothing short of amazing a constant work in progress.

I look forward to our Friday coaches meeting, for me it begins with a horrible and toxic row which includes rowing for 1 minute and rest 30 seconds attempting to get to 250 metres, see how many intervals I can get, as Jody says it's effort followed by reward, 1 of 3 coaches prepares a great meal with beer to match and good conversation, it's when and where decisions are made. It's fun, and it's one of the many many things that makes CFP a great place, because it's not just about training and going home, it's a part of our everyday lives.

I ❤ CFP and CrossFit, no joke, haha

Never old thats extactly how I feel when I am training at CFP. We have the best trainers in Glenn and Jody, our logo is courage, ferocity and pride but mostly I feel committment, friendship and extremely proud to be apart of the team.

This year I competed in the masters competition something I never ever thought I could but that dream was made a reality because of my trainers and fellow team mates

There isn't a day go by that I dont talk about crossfit either to a team mate or some poor bugger that stood still for too long and now has to listen !

I am a newbie at CFP and I am totally hooked. Crossfit is a compelling and amazing fitness movement and unlike anything I have experienced before. The variety of athletes in the box make it the most approachable sport I have ever participated in, in fact Crossfit is the first time I have ever competed in a sport. Woo hoo. I am continually amazed at the supportiveness of Glenn and the whole team regardless of ability or fitness level. Go Penrith!!
