CrossFit Brighton Fire steps into the CrossFit Affiliate Snapshot.


Owner: Greater Brighton Fire Protection District (Lt. Brad Cogburn, Physical Fiitness Coordinator).

Affiliate Since: 02/2009.

Location: Brighton, Colorado, United States.

Square Feet: We have five fire stations, each has a full CrossFit gym around 1500 square per gym.

Number of Members? 56.

Is this your original location? Yes.

Number of Trainers? Five,

Is this your full-time job? What else do/did you do? I'm a full time firefighter holding the rank of Lieutenant and the Physical Fitness Coordinator.

Why CrossFit? I believe it is the best fitness program to offer to the firefighters I work with.

Using 3 words or less, describe your affiliate culture: Forging Functional Firefighters.

Programming:Do you do your own or follow somewhere else? All five CrossFit trainers participate in the programming. They come up with all their own WODS.

Any special focus in clientele? Our programming is designed more for our firefighter personnel to make them a fitter firefighter for the job we do. Our firefighters are dedicated to stay fit, to provide the best customer service to the community we serve.

Average hours you work per week on/at your affiliate: As the fitness coordinator, I spend on average 30-40 hours week and our affiliate web page and maintain the gyms.

Have you ever advertised? No.

In running this business, what really took you by surprise? How much my firefighters enjoy doing the WODS and to see them improve the 10 CrossFit physical standards.

How has CrossFit changed your life? I've become a better trainer as well as more capable firefighter.

Any advice for new affiliate owners? Find out what your peoples goals are, not your goals!

I love the fact that a fire department has affiliated. That's awesome. I'm trying to get CrossFit into my PD (Minneapolis). I hope I have as much success as you did.

Dear Brad
I am a firefighter in ohio and i have been trying to convience my chief into allow crossfit into the fire department. But i have been running into problems due to the face he's afraid of possible more workers comp claims. How do you have your wods set up. Does a station have designated work out times so not all the sations are working out at once. If you can please help me. contact me via email at rcorregan0711@hotmail.com
