CrossFit Fire (Jennie and Bill Yundt) step into the CrossFit Affiliate Snapshot.
Affiliate Since: February 7th, 2008.
Location: Lakemoor, IL USA (Just South of "Up North").
Sq Ft: 1,850.
Number of Members? 108.
How many times have you moved your affiliate location? Once. We used to share space with an all-star cheer facility, but our members didn't like sharing the stereo with cheerleaders. All Miley, all the time. Fran without "Thunderstruck" just isn't the same.
Number of Trainers? Three.
Greatest joy as a CrossFit affiliate: Watching someone call "TIME" the first time they do a workout RX'd.
Keep reading! There's more . . .
Biggest worry as a CrossFit affiliate: Honestly? We don't spend a lot of time worrying. Bill and I both love what we do so much, that we are able to take it all in stride.
Do you Facebook? Or Twitter? Facebook, maybe a little obsessively.
Do you blog daily? Yes, and I've actually met a lot of interesting people through the blog. We'll be in random places, and someone will approach me and say "I've read your blog for two years, so nice to meet you!" It's a little weird. Just get in my gym already. Stalker.
If you had Coach Greg Glassman's ear, what would you ask him? I'd ask him if he could come out to my box for a day and do his CrossFit 101 discussion. That way, I could get all my questions answered, and so could all my members.
If you could give new CrossFit affiliates one piece of advice, what would it be? Never stop learning. The worst trap for an affiliate owner to fall into is the feeling that they know everything. Read books, other affiliate blogs, magazines, medical journals, and watch instructional videos. Somewhere there is an affiliate doing something better than you are, or more efficiently.
Complete the sentence: CrossFit is . . . going to change your life.
Biggest lesson you've learned as a small business owner: Learn when to hire someone else to help. Don't try and be the expert on everything. Example: don't try and put the satellite radio antenna on the roof yourself. I'm just sayin.
Using 3 words or less, describe your affiliate culture: Funandamazing, resultsdriven, friendlybutcompetitive. There, that's 3 words, right?
Gym dog? Or no gym dog? We don't have a dog, but we have a remote-controlled skunk.

"Complete the sentence: CrossFit is . . . going to change your life."
I'm going to use that, often. Thanks!

I opened a CF affiliate in Chicago recently and Jennie and Bill where some of the most approachable affiliate owners I have ever met. During the initial start-up process they hosted a lunch and team wod that was amazing along with providing great tips on opening our box. These two are top notch professionals in our community! Best of luck in the future you two.
