Affiliate Since: June, 2007.

Location: Lutz, Florida, USA.

Sq Ft: 18,000 sf.

Number of Members? Approx. 300.

How many times have you moved your affiliate location? Well we started in a back yard. Then we moved to a Martial Arts school. Then we moved to a gym and used the aerobics room for a while, then we moved to a local park while we looked for a new building. Then we moved to a 6,000 square foot building which we out grew in a year, we moved into an 18,000 square foot building where we are very happy and in the process of buying the building . . . bad new is we are outgrowing it already.

Number of Trainers? I have 3 trainers including myself.

Greatest joy as a CrossFit affiliate: Making an impact in someone's life that really makes a difference!

Keep reading! There's more!

Biggest worry as a CrossFit affiliate: None, We fear nothing, for we are CrossFit!!!!

Do you Facebook? Or Twitter? Facebook

Do you blog daily? Blog everyday, we post 100 pictures a day of our members, they love the blog.

If you had Coach Greg Glassman's ear, what would you ask him? Boxers or Briefs? Nice that most every question I have asked he has answered in podcast, journal or other resource. Probably just buy him a beer and let him start preaching CrossFit . . .

If you could give new CrossFit affiliates one piece of advice, what would it be? Let your students help you make decisions on running your box.

Complete the sentence: CrossFit is . . . destroyer of mediocrity.

Biggest lesson you've learned as a small business owner: That I am a really poor businessman. But I don't care, if you build it they will come, and ooh are they coming.

Hey Lisbeth,
On this blog before there was a spot on the left that had other events hosted by affiliates. Now that its gone should we just look on the affiliate board to see what other events that might be coming up or is that going to return to this page.

Comment #1 - Posted by: Jordon at April 18, 2010 8:38 PM

Sorry I meant on the right

Comment #2 - Posted by: Jordon at April 18, 2010 8:40 PM

Jordon -- we've made some changes to the Affiliate Blog and there will be more coming in the future. We're simply growing so fast as a global community that changes are inevitable. And good! It means you guys are exploding!

The Community section of the CrossFit Message Boards remains a great place to post such information -- and, of course, affiliate blogs continue to be a cornerstone of local affiliate life.

Now, look at CF Sparta -- 18,000 Sf! Holy cow!

Comment #3 - Posted by: Lisbeth at April 19, 2010 6:19 AM

Oh my god, 1 arm deadlift!!!! really neat.

This place sounds awesome, is it the biggest crossfit facility in the country?

Long live Crossfit Sparta!

Holy Cats! 18,000 Sqft!! Incredible. Business man or not, you've done something right either on your own and/or with the guidance of clients, friends, family and mentors - it's working! Keep up the great work!

Comment #6 - Posted by: Ian Carver at April 19, 2010 8:29 AM

If I tried that, I'd end up like the black knight from Monty Python. It's just a flesh wound...

This is an interesting contrast to the post from the 16th, isn't it. Two seemingly contrary philosophies and business structures, and both working exceptionally well.

I have been with CrossFit Sparta since the beginning of January this year. It has made an amazing difference in my life in just 3 months! I'm stronger than I have ever been, not just physically, but mentally. This group gives me the drive and motivation I need to become a better person each day. I am doing things I never thought possible and overcoming fears and know that I have so much more on the way. I just went 6 days between workouts for business reasons and was seriously suffering physical withdrawls! I need my CrossFit Sparta crack! lol

Thank you Master Diaz, Master Jess, and all of the Sparta warriors for making this such an amazing place to be!

Crossfit Sparta has brought me to my maximum strength physically and mentally everyday I am there. All the trainers and owners should be very proud to have made the affiliate site.

Comment #25 - Posted by: Carrie Fritz at April 19, 2010 5:55 PM

Very proud to be a member of CrossFit Sparta. I've been with Sparta about 20 months...and there's no place like it. Like Eric C said, it's not the building...it's the people. We're one big family, and we all work together to constantly improve our forms. As Fritzie said, I'm stronger physically and mentally because of Sparta.

Comment #26 - Posted by: Annie (Ironhead) at April 19, 2010 6:09 PM

Have been a member of Sparta for almost a year now..and just like previous posts..being not only physically stronger and mentally stronger since joining has allowed me to not only challenge myself in the gym and the workouts, but also in every aspect of my life...school..work..etc.

Mentality that has you believing that the difficult can be done and the impossible…well it just takes a lil more effort..

Long Live Sparta!

Comment #27 - Posted by: Jon at April 19, 2010 6:23 PM

So awesome that Sparta made it on to the affiliate page!

I have been with Sparta since the beginning, since the martial arts school to be exact. Those were the days that our classes were 6-10 people. Now I'm shocked at the size of the classes, it really is amazing and motivating. Crossfit Sparta and all the trainers there have literally changed my life, not only physically but mentally too. They have whipped me into the best shape of my life and they have made me a better martial artist then I have ever been. I owe them everything and I hope to be able to train there for a long time to come!

I have been with Crossfit Sparta for little over a year and it has changed my life. It is my crack. But it is awesome to see my second home get spot lighted on the main site. The next step is to get our introductory WOD "The Spartan" to be the main WOD.

This is Sparta!!

Comment #31 - Posted by: Paul "Wall" at April 19, 2010 6:48 PM

When I met "The Company" I realized what I was missing in my life. The workouts are incredible coupled with the motivation to do your very best. Master Diaz is an incredible motivator, teacher, and very passionate. Just seeing that smirk on his face scares me to death prior to any workout. From the workouts to the cross fight I'm Addicted. My 7 year old twins just love the cross fight for kids. The instructors are excellent and also motivating. What ever they been putting in the water my kids immediately come home from school ready to go to sparta for their work out.

Comment #32 - Posted by: Mark at April 19, 2010 6:56 PM

Well Judging from all the posts looks like you got a great family. We have the same thing going on here in Lauderdale however only 110 members and growing. Keep up the great work brother.
If I am ever over that way I will be sure to stop in with a T shirt.

Comment #33 - Posted by: Steven@CrossFitAffliction at April 19, 2010 7:11 PM

I joined Sparta in January and it is the best...and worst part of my day all in one. I have gone almost every day, and the days I do miss I get bummed over it. It really is like a family. No matter what class I attend, someone always comes up and says hi and I am always meeting new people. I was in the US Army for eight years and I have found nothing close as far as camaraderie and physical challenge goes. I have also convinced four of my friends to join and they absolutely love it. I hope I can continue to train at Sparta for years to come. I really do think it is not only the biggest, but also the best CrossFit affiliate in the world!!!

Comment #34 - Posted by: Pete S. at April 19, 2010 7:25 PM

I'm glad to see Sparta on the Crossfit affiliate page! The people there are family and I'm glad to see all their hard work and dedication has been recognized!

Like many said before me, Crossfit Sparta is the freaking best place ever. I count down the time until I get to put on my crazy socks and get ready for a killer WOD. We have the most dedicated staff that have created an amazing atmosphere to workout in. I love it and could go on forever about how much this place has changed my life! Congrats Sparta for making the affiliate page! Well deserved!

Congrats to CrossFit Sparta for making the main affiliate page! I have been taking the CrossFit classes since July 2008 and my son and I joined the CrossFight program in January 2009. I wish that we could make it to CrossFight more than three days a week, but I have to work in order to support our Sparta "habit". Fantastic Trainers + Awesome WODs = One Incredible Affiliate! Comment #40 - Posted by: Heather at April 19, 2010 7:57 PM

Wow!!!
It's so nice to see our CrossFit affiliate Sparta on this page :)

Great place to train with some cool people....
I have to give kudos to the owners and staff whom pretty much work 24/7 to keep this place going.

When my 4 year old son started training in the Cross Fight Martial program some time ago I can remember when he was the only child on some days. It's certainly nice to see the program grow to so many kids today.
As for the Cross Fit section I have to give thanks to Master Diaz in giving my son RJ at 5 years old a chance at doing a few of the W.O.D's last year...as we know today @ 6 years old he is now a full time "legit" Vet of the CrossFit/Cross Fight program looking to run a good time daily with the big boys(No Fear)...With that said He is now a straight A Honor student looking to conquer every thing in school as if it's a Daily W.O.D...............PRICELESS :-)

As for me his Dad ....Lets just say training at Crossfit Sparta has my Cardiologist saying very little to me these days(when I see him) Hee!! Hee!!...Go figure :)

Time for some action Tampa Bay Area....Get some CrossFit Sparta

Comment #41 - Posted by: Big Rob at April 19, 2010 8:02 PM

Wow! So many great comments!! What a testament to the program and (ultimately) staff...putting in all those LONG hours at the box 6, and at times, 7 days a week. Congratulations guys.
My family has been training at Sparta for over year now and (like all fellow members have stated above), it has absolutely changed our lives...couldn't imagine not training here. It is much more than a gym, it is a community. Motivating, supportive members and crazy sick WOD's...

Congrats to Sparta on making it "BIGTIME"!! Love this place & all the people in it. I started a little over a year ago and could barely run due to a knee surgery, and now getting my ass kicked all over the place on a daily basis & loving it! LOL! The workouts are killer(even when it's an "easy" one)and there is no place I'd rather spend my free time--wish I had more! Our crossfight workouts are just as intense, and I will say maybe a tad more painful( especially after our pressure point night tonight--yooww!!) Glad to be a small part......Master Chief, Master Jess,Shawn, Lynn, Rena & Joe, thanks for having the vision and providing a place for us all to do what we love to do :) Peace out!! Long live the Spartans!!!!!

Sparta gets in your blood, it becomes a part of who you are. No doubt it is the trainers that make this a reality....it is their dream that brought us there, it is their dedication that makes it a place you can't wait to get to each day, it is their integrity that keeps us going back for more. I have been lucky enough to be a member for 28 months, I hope the powers that be allow me to go until....well...until I can't lift a weight any longer!!

Comment #47 - Posted by: Colleen at April 20, 2010 4:47 AM

Joining Sparta a little over a year ago is one of the best decisions I ever made. Thank you Master Diaz, Master Jess, Mr. Shawn & Ladybug for setting the bar so high every day. You all pour your heart & soul into Sparta & we are reaping the benefits. I look forward to killing myself every day with people who encourage me to conquer my weakness and who celebrate every success with me. It is an awesome community. I wouldn't trade it for anything!

The staff is amazing, has a great sense of humor and treats everyone like family. Only at Crossfit Sparta can 120 parking spaces not be enough! I say lets build a 10 story parking garage and repel down the side for time!

Comment #51 - Posted by: Bill F (Grandpa) at April 20, 2010 9:17 AM

I've been a member at Sparta just short of a month. There hasn't been a single morning that Sparta wasn't the first thing to cross my mind when I woke up. One reason being, that every sore muscle in my body makes getting out of bed a concious effort, the other being that I know from that moment there are only 14 hours until I will be back at Sparta.

Having amazing trainers who always push you during workouts and greet you by name is an invaluable benefit that makes this facility not only a gym, but a family of sorts. I look forward to a long future of training and improving myself at Sparta.

KOS - Every night you say, "Today we have an easy W.O.D.!"... and it is never true! Looking forward to it none the less!

Comment #52 - Posted by: Jean Ann at April 20, 2010 1:34 PM

I have been going to Sparta now since Sept 09 and it has totally changed my life for the better. I bravely drive an hour and across the bridge to come to workout. People think I am crazy because there is a location right by my condo that I could go to. Everyone at Sparta has "heart". You have to try it here to know it doesn't get better than Sparta.

One of the main reasons I love Sparta is the atmosphere the staff creates. There is always an element of fun mixed in with the grueling pain of each workout. It keeps you coming back. It is a great place to improve your life!!

Congratulations to the Staff at Sparta. Your hard work and dedication has finally been recognized outside of our family here at Sparta.

Long Live Sparta!!

I can tell you from the first day we visited Sparta and met the staff, I knew they were different and what they had going was something special. We have been apart of the crossfit and martial arts (CrossFight) since we started and we enjoy going everyday. I do things now that I never believed I could ever do. I have goals that feel impossible but when I'm at Sparta I can do anything. Crossfit Sparta and its staff have taught me how to look impossible in the face and say I'll meet you at the finish line.
