Hi, I'm the solo one in front of the Washington Monument. This handstand was a perfect way to end the Susan G Koman 3Day 60 mile walk for Breast Cancer. Our team, Ocean City CrossFit Crusaders, raised $33,649.50 to help end Breast Cancer. We walked for and with one of our CrossFitters and all the other woman fighting the fight. It was an awesome experience. My handstand is my salute to them:)
Wow, well to follow that inspiring story... Meaghan and I went on a bike ride from Alexandria, VA into DC with my husband one Sunday. We thoroughly enjoy being upside down, so what better place to practice our handstands than flanking the Washington Monument.
Top middle here---this picture was taken on the annual camping trip I take with my 3 boys. We had just finished climbing a 100' nearly vertical clay embankment without ropes, and wanted to capture the beauty of the falls with a handstand.
What is not seen is that about 30 seconds later, I attempted another handstand that would have allowed a more complete view of the falls. While inverted, my iphone fell out of my pocket and became a submarine in the water......Ahhhhh!!!
We actually have a picture of the exact moment it fell out of my pocket, and you can see the phone about halfway to the murky depths.....surprisingly, it still works!!!
I'm in the top right. No special story here. Just goofing around on my kids' spring break at Atlantis in the Bahamas. The beach was a safe place to attempt the obligatory on the road CF handstand photo.
Thanks for the link to our box. The Burpee tribute was a huge success! Great job by Coach Dave Rice for putting everything together. We more the doubled our burpee goal and ended up with 10,517 burpees!
Bottom middle was taken in Salamanca, Spain, where I studied this summer. I think the locals appreciated the gymnastics in the street...
¡Me encanta el collage!
Great to see our picture on the page! We're the top left, with the monument in the middle of us. We both love the "travel" handstands; so much so, that we have them everywhere, from the arch in Chinatown, DC, "The Bean" in Chicago, to the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
"No special story here" - I beg to differ, Pat D! (top right photo) Pat is 45 years old, and in better shape than most others in our gym. Pat has built a CF home gym, but enjoys joining us at CFNA - I know for the ability to drop weights - but I suspect also for the competition and camaraderie. Pat has 2 sons who also Crossfit with him - his oldest son secured a baseball scholarship this year. Pat is truly an inspiration in our gym, and it's great to see him represented here on the a-blog!
