CrossFit Slayer: Making things happen somewhere in Iraq . . .

We all don't start out on the same footing. Some of us have more equipment, some have less. But who among us wouldn't want to go work out at CrossFit Slayer?

Witness the Evolution of the Shed at RedShed CrossFit (NJ).

Thanks for the post Lisbeth!

Yes, I agree not the most ideal place for a WOD. However, big applauds to the men and women with the stamina to continue their workouts while far away from their families and coaches. And last but not least, Thank You for volunteering to be part of our Armed Forces and protecting our freedom. You truly are inspiring.

The RedShed has come a long way, and has brought me a long way as well! Good to see it on the Main site!

It's great to see this on the affiliate blog.

Support Slayer by purchasing one of their t-shirts. The proceeds go toward equipment purchase. I ordered mine last week.

Count me in. You guys inspire me to lock up all this shiny new equipment and break out the sandbags. Just bought a shirt to get you all some more equipment.

#4 (Kathleen) -- Thanks for supporting CF Slayer, but perhaps you misread my words? I think CF Slayer looks like a GREAT place for a WOD. Really, I do -- and I think that most CrossFitters would agree. I love what Mike and the gang are accomplishing over there, both in and out of their space.

And thanks to Skip for mentioning their t-shirts!

Thanks everyone for supporting us and getting the word out on the shirts and everything. We started out here pretty much with just myself and the few guys willing to take the bait :) We have steadily grown day by day working to improve not only the location, but also my own coaching experience and the experiences of everyone. The turn out, gains physically and mentally of everyone, and the friendships I have gained through this has been amazing. I am so thankful for the efforts all of our guys are putting forth everyday. And elise, thank you so much for all of your unwaivering support to me through this deployment.

Oh and p.s. check out our facebook page as well- CrossFit Slayer. We always welcome more friends and fans. and we have some vids and everything up on there as well :) Thanks again everyone.

Not only is the name cool, just look at what they are doing there! It takes a little extra grit and spit to get a WOD in with limited equipment (not to mention being in the desert). My hat is off to Mike and his crew. I will be sure to push your shirts in the shed!

Thanks for keeping us safe, Mike. Your hard work is appreciated.

As for the RedShed, I am very proud of the steps we have taken in recent months, although I still miss walking across the street to go to work! That was a great commute!

Long live ye ole RedShed!

The first thing I spotted was the gentleman deadlifting from a raise elevation (paralletes) - this instantly got me thinking that he might have had a hard time keeping his arch from the floor and his coach modified the ROM to help- then I'm thinking there is some inventive, caring, and quality coaching going on at SLAYER!

Hey, maybe none of this is true, but knowing that one of our own is at Slayer surely makes his CFOT team at home feel proud. Mike and the entire Slayer team; we are proud of your drive, determination, and commitment; Stay Safe, Stay Strong!

As for that BOX in the sand; an Oasis, absolutely beautiful!

Thanks Jerry, I learned it all from you, Chriss and Andrea. I am only trying to give my guys a glimpse of what you all know. Thanks again for all the support. Terry, doing the dead lift is one of our emotional studs here at CF Slayer. He is out here as a civilian, 55 years old, was a little intimidated, but now works three days a week with so much determination to hit the form correctly it is amazing. We really have a great group here training and it has really become a good bond between all of us. Thanks again Jerry for all the help leading up to this. And... we now have better lighting for our night class, and service flags flying proud. Only the Pull Up bars are remaining.

Impressive Red Shed! I have half the space and it is a challenge to decide how/what to do next to make it more functional. Nice to see how you progressed!

Hello all,

I'm one of Mike's kool-aid drinkers. The CrossFit experience we have going on at Camp Slayer is really amazing. I cant say enough good things about Mike's efforts out here. Its hard to describe how important it is here to have an outlet and we have a great one.

Thank you _all_ for your words of encouragement, your moral and emotional support, and the monetary support of our t-shirt buyers. We truly appreciate every form of support we get out here while we are away from family friends.

Feel free to contact us via the Facebook page, email, or the official CrossFit forums.

Good Job ShedHeads!! You have to admire the fighting spirit of our Armed Forces personnel who look for new ways to prepare.

Believe it or not, that facility is better than my workout location. Of course, overcoming any adversity simply makes you stronger.

Now, now... I don't think that is the proper use of those four 463L cargo pallets. :) Good stuff guys. Keep up the good work.
