Clarence (of CrossFit Fredericton) gets his deadlift on.
Canadian affiliates will be participating in the fundraiser workout Fight Gone Bad IV, to be held on Sept 26th. Jodi and Anthony Bainbridge (owners of CrossFit Fredericton in New Brunswick, Canada) tells us who CFF is fighting for -- and that his name is Clarence . . .
Who We Fight For
by CrossFit Fredericton
Why are we fighting? Clarence. He's 73, married, three children, six grandchildren, writes music, sings in two choirs, helps his friends with computer issues, the ladies love him - basically he's just an all-around cool guy.
He also has prostate cancer and chronic fatigue. But he's not letting that stop him. He started exercising on doctor's orders; unable to do a pushup, squat, or deadlift. He's now doing dozens of pushups, Turkish get-ups, burpees, tire flips, and he deadlifts 150x5. You name it, he's doing it. He is a huge inspiration to everyone in our gym.
Exercise and nutrition have done amazing things for Clarence, but there is still a lot of work to be done. Most men avoid annual checkups making diagnosis difficult, complicated, and sometimes too late. Most men do not realize that 1 in 6 will be diagnosed with prostate cancer.
So on September 26, we are fighting for the friends and family who are currently affected, we are fighting for the men who will be diagnosed in the future, and we are fighting for the men who need to get their ass to the doctor (literally) and get checked out. We hope that you join us in our fight.
