We (CrossFit La Verne) started a Zone/Paleo challenge 2 weeks ago. Justin Yee from Best Body Composition came out, brought the Bod Pod and took body fat measurements from each client that is participating in the challenge. We also took before pictures and there is a money pot! We gave a nutrition lecture 1 week before to make sure everyone was on the same page! It has really motivated people and brought our clients closer together.....
Congratulations Aasim! We had 70 people sign up for our Spring LEANing challenge and as Sarah said, it really motivated people and got our clients talking to each other more than ever. I'd highly recommend other affiliates to do something similar.
Outstanding wod Andy.looks a lot like one of the qualifier wods.Great way to get some guerilla advertising going as well!
Congrats Aasim.
That is an awesome way to get looking great!
I love how CFLA does their swings right in the middle of the street! Anyone know why Andy and Burch twist on those single handed OHS? Besides looking cool and more difficult?
Ha! I know why! I wondered if anyone would ask... I literally cannot do a 1 handed db oh squat without reducing the weight so low that it's silly... so I subbed a thruster and windmill for each rep.
I however did NOT sub thruster/windmill... I just have to twist myself into a pretzel to get any depth on a single OHS at that weight... so to answer your question... my form just sucks!
We are having our very first challenge! Our box did the Baseline Challenge. Started with a prelim, then in 6 weeks we are going to test everyone again to how they've improved and what the DID to improve their time. "Raise your Game!!"
We are offering a cash prize to winners, but the biggest prize is the community and getting all of our students, friends and family involved! It was such a great morning, it was really indiscriable! Looking forward to big challenge day on Aug 1st!
We recently concluded a 6 week challenge that included a baseline workout, body comp, and nutrition logs. We gave points for sticking to diet, recording workouts, performance increases and body comp changes. It was fantastic - everyone really got behind each other. Some great changes for almost everyone, and also established better longterm nutrition habits. We'll be doing a longer one in the spring for sure.
Great job on the Spring Leaning! These challenges offer a nice opportunity to step up everyone's nutrition game. A focus on quality food really pays off!
