Employ a little image editing and make your affiliate photos "pop" on the screen. In the first photo, our visual eye is distracted by the extraneous images on the periphery of the photo (the cars on the left, the pavement markings in the foreground, etc.) Once we crop the photo, however, we are able to eliminate the distractions and zoom in on the long, lean lines of the body, vastly improving the image.
Photos say a lot about your CrossFit affiliate, so take a few extra minutes to really make them shine. If you have a good, high-resolution digital image, please e-mail it to us at affiliateblog@crossfit.com. We're always looking for more photos, stories, and accomplishments, so send them in!

Good point about the photos - and in case you didn't realize it, you also did something else to make the photo visually interesting: you followed the Rule of Thirds.
You put the subject one-third of the way into the frame, as opposed to centering her (which is what most people do). It tends to make the photo more interesting to the eye, instead of plunking the subject right in the center, which takes away all the fun.
I may not be describing it the best, but the Rule of Thirds is something designers know, but few others seem to hear about. And, like all rules, you can obviously break it... it's just a tool that's good to have.
Good job Lis. You really captured CFW image. Hard work in a hard work ethic setting but always fun and rewarding (Cait is smiling I think).
i like how you cut out the cars, but kept the most of the historic industrial building. Beautiful brickwork.
Good photo tip.
This seems like a good occasion to mention that the CrossFit Journal has been running an ongoing series of video articles by TonyB on taking CF-related photos and video (part 5 was in yesterday's issue). One of the purposes of this "Media Tips" series is to provide information that will help affiliates get good pics for their blogs. If this is a topic that interests you, you might want to check them out...
thanks! looking forward to more info like this!
Thanks for the unconditional motivation Keith. I've always had goals but was afraid to make them "to real", so as to not complain when I didn't get to where i wanted to be. Gonna have to man up and start voicing my aspirations.
Congrats on the new space brother, can't wait to visit CF virtuosity and get a WOD in.
