Who's the one with the big chest...??! Nice photo, Nicole.
Viva Arizona! as a tempe resident and Crossfit afficianado (i.e...'amatuer') I am very proud of you guys making onto the boards at the CF website!
HOORA!
This picture was taken at the Mesa Fire cert. Thanks Lisa and Ken for your help and advice. Would someone please post the group picture we took in front of the pumper. That one is cool. The cert. was great, Coach makes you feel like an old friend, Nicole is amazing, will correct anyone on form. Thanks Derek and Mesa fire, very progressive. Dave, that was a really long story just to tell us you were a SEAL (badass). Todd good luck with CF Montana.
Lisa - thanks for the kind word - it is nice to know that all the pushups I've been doing are finally starting to create a noticeable difference.
This snapshot tells a story. About 18 months ago, I started looking into CF and attended an really solid Olympic lift class taught at Ken Urakawa's place in Tempe. The experience there left me wanting more. A few months later, work related training led me to Flagstaff, where I started CF workouts with Lisa and Mike Ray. The experience with them brought me to the decision to sign up for the Cert in January. And all of three of us were at the Flagstaff cert this weekend, where I went for my first run at Level 2 cert.
Guess that makes me the baby in the family. Maybe when I grow up I'll be as smart as Ken and Lisa.....
Did everyone survive the cert at the oxygen-starved, 6800 ft. Flagstaff elevation?? I am a '80 graduate of NAU and loved my time in Flagstaff. I have worked out at Ken's place in Tempe (thx again). Perhaps on a another trip from Seattle (where I live now) I can get in a workout in at Crossfit Flagstaff and Crossfit Strong Medicine - (where the heck is Anthem?) Glad to see such strong affiliates in AZ!
Another Lumberjack!
Jeftyg - you have a Sedona transplant up in your neck of the woods. Lincoln Brigham of CrossFit Sedona is in Seattle area these days. You two can workout together in Goretex, wishing again for the dry Arizona climate at altitude.
Everyone did survive the cert, with only one sprained ankle to show for the injury list. Pukie contributions were up, however.
Anthem is north of Phoenix on I-17, just south of New River.
